A) How to Develop a Prayer Life - Beth Shields

1. Prayer is communication.
Communication- (1828 dictionary)
- the act of imparting, conferring, or delivering, from one to another
- intercourse by words, letters or messages; interchange of thoughts or opinions, by conference or other means

2. Prayer is relationship.
- the state of being related
- you become intimate with the one you pray to and the one you pray for.
- God's Phone Number: Jeremiah 33:3 - "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know."
- Get to know God by spending time with Him.
- Prayer benefits who you are praying for and you as well.
- Solution to Spiritual Warfare: 2 Corinthians 10:4 - "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds."

Luke 18:1 - "Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,"

Philippians 4: 6-7 - "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

1 Thessalonians 5:17 - "Pray without ceasing."

Ephesians 6:10-18 - The Whole Armor of God -
10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—"

1 John 5:14 - "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us."

2 Chronicles 7:14 - "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
- We can't afford to not have a prayer life.

3. Prayer changes things.
- Know the value of prayer: James 5:16b (NLT) - "...and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."
- When you pray you are changing things.

- Give God Honor first
*Money
*Worship- recognize God for who He is- Your job is not the source od provisions
*With your mouth- speak the Word over your tithe: Romans 10:10, Hebrews 11:6;

C) The Importance of Church Attendance - Emily Briggs

Hebrews 10:25
- Everybody has a vital part: Romans 12:5
- We belong to each other: 1 Corinthians 12:12 & 14-23
- When we come together, God blesses the body
- Many parts; one body
- God made you the part you are
**Ask God which you can afford to miss: prayer meeting you can afford to miss, area of serving is not important to do, etc.

*Why is it important to come to more than one service
1. Every service carries a piece of your puzzle; an answer to your problem
2. Brings opportunity to fellowship with other believers
- Give & get (receive)
3. We belong to each other (us to Jesus, Jesus to us, us to each other)

Be in the right place
Doing the right things
With the right people
